Their combination of classic stage illusions, upbeat entertainment, comedy, and spiritual lessons has touched many lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Their ministry is effective in a unique way because it attracts an audience that might not be impacted by more traditional outreach methods.
Duane and Mary are experienced in ministry and the performing arena. For sixteen years Duane was in the pastorate. Day by day he prepared sermons, did Bible studies, organized programs, and dealt with people. Mary was involved in children's church, Sunday School, and Bible School work. She also helped Duane in special outreach programs that featured his sleight of hand abilities and her talents with puppetry.
In 1991 the Laflins felt God leading them to a full time work that applied their experience, knowledge, and skills to a special kind of teaching, outreach, and ministry effort. They became "Christian Illusionists." They are now specialists in the field of family entertainment and in the work of using amazing effects to create powerful visualized lessons. On the secular level they have been seen on national television, featured on national radio, and have performed at high level venues in places such as Hollywood, New York City, London, Tokyo, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, and many others. On the ministry level, which is where their heart is most of all, they have been able to share the good news of God's love around the world.
